What is Rahu Kalam?
Rahu Kalam is one of eight equal parts of the daytime, from sunrise to sunset, traditionally ruled by Rahu and avoided for starting anything new. It usually lasts about 90 minutes and changes with your city and the season.
The name
How it's worked out
Daylight is divided into eight parts. Rahu takes the 8th part on Sunday, the 2nd on Monday, the 7th on Tuesday, the 5th on Wednesday, the 6th on Thursday, the 4th on Friday and the 3rd on Saturday. Because sunrise and sunset vary, so does the clock time.
What to do during it
Continue ongoing work, routine tasks and prayer. Avoid beginning journeys, purchases, ceremonies or agreements if you can move them.

No. It depends on local sunrise and sunset, so London, Chennai and New York all have different times.
Does Rahu Kalam apply at night?
The traditional rule covers daytime. Some almanacs also give a night period, but daytime Rahu Kalam is the one most families follow.
