What Sade Sati means
Sade Sati is the roughly seven-and-a-half-year period when Saturn passes through the sign before your Moon sign, your Moon sign itself, and the sign after. It is traditionally a time of more responsibility, slower progress and hard-won maturity. It is not a curse, and many people do some of their most lasting work during it.

What does Sade Sati mean?
Sade Sati means "seven and a half" in Hindi (साढ़े साती). In Tamil it is called Ezharai Sani (ஏழரைச் சனி), "seven-and-a-half Saturn". It names the roughly 7.5 years Saturn spends crossing the sign before your Moon sign, your Moon sign and the sign after.
What are the three phases of Sade Sati?
The rising phase (Saturn in the sign before yours) often brings expenses and broken rest. The peak (Saturn on your Moon sign) is the heaviest, with more responsibility and slower results. The setting phase (Saturn in the sign after) is lighter, with money and family needing care.
Is Sade Sati always bad?
No. It is demanding rather than disastrous. Traditionally it rewards patience, discipline and finishing what you start, and many people build something lasting during it. Your birth chart can also soften or strengthen its effects.
What helps during Sade Sati?
Keeping commitments realistic, protecting sleep and routine, saving money and being patient with slow results. Many people also light a sesame-oil lamp on Saturdays, give to those in need or recite the Hanuman Chalisa; these are optional traditions.
What are Ashtama Shani and Ardhashtama Shani?
Ashtama Shani is Saturn in the 8th sign from your Moon sign; Ardhashtama Shani is Saturn in the 4th. Both are traditionally testing periods of about two and a half years, separate from Sade Sati.

Why do I keep losing money, and is it Sade Sati?
It could only be Sade Sati if your Moon sign is Mesha, Meena or Kumbha: as of November 2026 those three are in Saturn's 7.5-year passage around the Moon. Even then, Sade Sati is traditionally linked with tighter money and extra responsibility, not ruin, and it never explains a specific loss. Check transactions, subscriptions, debts and possible scams first.

Being in Sade Sati together is more common than it sounds, and it doesn't doom a relationship. As of November 2026, Saturn in Meena puts Kumbha (last phase), Meena (peak) and Mesha (rising phase) Moon signs in Sade Sati, so couples with neighbouring signs often overlap. What helps most is sharing the load fairly, keeping money plans clear and talking regularly.
