What is Panchangam?

A Panchangam is the traditional Hindu almanac. Its five limbs are Tithi (lunar day), Vaara (weekday), Nakshatra (lunar mansion), Yoga and Karana, alongside daily timings like Rahu Kalam.

The name

English: "Five limbs"Tamil: பஞ்சாங்கம் (Panchaangam)Hindi: पंचांग (Pañcāṅg)

Why location matters

Each limb is read at local sunrise, and timings follow local sunrise and sunset. A Panchangam printed for India will be out for London or Toronto.
