Ketu: letting go without disappearing

How do I distinguish detachment from avoidance?

Ketu traditionally represents separation, inwardness, discernment and release. Reflect on what has lost meaning and what still deserves care. Letting go can mean changing your relationship with an outcome while continuing to meet your responsibilities.

Start with the traditional theme

Ketu traditionally represents separation, inwardness, discernment and release. Reflect on what has lost meaning and what still deserves care. Letting go can mean changing your relationship with an outcome while continuing to meet your responsibilities.

Connect the idea to chart reading

Read Ketu together with Rahu rather than making detachment the entire story. Begin by locating the axis and naming the life areas under the selected reference. Spirituality, withdrawal and discernment are possible traditional themes; they are not evidence that someone is spiritually advanced or should abandon a relationship or career. In a learning exercise, ask what is being reduced, what is being pursued on the opposite side and how the person’s responsibilities connect the two.

An everyday example

Someone feels disengaged from a role they once enjoyed. Instead of resigning immediately, they identify what no longer fits, speak about changing responsibilities and explore alternatives. A quiet loss of interest is information to investigate, not an instruction to abandon everything.

Look at the whole picture

One planet never supplies the complete interpretation. In a chart, its sign, house, relationships with other planets and the relevant periods modify the picture. While learning, practise naming possibilities before deciding which explanation fits. Compare the symbolism with circumstances, skills, support and choices you can actually observe.

Edit without erasing the whole work

An artist often improves a composition by removing what distracts from it. That does not mean every unfinished section should be thrown away. Ketu’s traditional themes of release and discernment can prompt a similar question: what has become unnecessary, and what remains valuable? Detachment can mean loosening a demand for a particular outcome while continuing to care about the work.

Another situation to explore

Someone steps back from social media because comparison has become tiring. They may still keep the professional contacts and creative work that matter to them. The decision is more thoughtful when it identifies what is being reduced and what will replace it, rather than treating withdrawal as an achievement in itself.

Try this in your own life

Choose one habit to reduce for a week. What meaningful activity will take its place, and what will help you judge whether the change is useful?

Traditional astrology offers an interpretive lens. It does not establish a fixed future or replace professional advice.

Ask Baba

I know the basics. How do I read my own birth chart, step by step?

Read your chart in layers. Check the birth data, find the Lagna (Ascendant) and number the houses from it, place each planet by sign and house, see where each house's ruler sits, then add timing through the Dasha (planetary period) and transits from your Moon. Work one house at a time and note what you find before interpreting.

What is the Ascendant (Lagna), and why does birth time matter?

The Ascendant, or Lagna, is the zodiac sign rising on the eastern horizon at the moment and place of your birth. It becomes your 1st house and fixes the order of all twelve houses. Because a new sign rises roughly every two hours on average, a birth time out by even 15–30 minutes can change the Lagna if you were born near a boundary.

What is the difference between Vedic and Western astrology?

The biggest difference is the zodiac. Vedic astrology (Jyotish) uses the sidereal zodiac, tied to the stars, while most Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac, tied to the seasons. The two are now about 24°14′ apart, so your Vedic sign is usually one sign behind your Western one. Vedic astrology also leans on the Moon sign, Nakshatras and Dasha periods.

How accurate is astrology? Is it scientific?

Astrology's calculations are accurate; its predictions are not scientifically established. Planetary positions can be computed precisely, and ChiChakra checks its dates against the Swiss Ephemeris. Reading those positions as forecasts for your life is a tradition, not a tested science. We offer it as a lens for reflection and timing, and we're open about that.
