Life events and good timing

When is a good time to start a new job?

Published 01-11-2026 · · How we answer

Short answer

Start a new job on the date your employer sets; if you can choose, pick a weekday outside your Chandrashtama days and plan your arrival outside Rahu Kalam. Mercury is retrograde until 13 November 2026, which tradition reads as a time to double-check details, so re-read your contract and joining instructions, but don't delay a good offer for it.

How ChiChakra reads this

For career timing, astrologers look at the 10th house, its ruling planet, Saturn and the running Dasha. Without a birth chart, ChiChakra uses daily timing: Rahu Kalam for your city and Chandrashtama for your Moon sign. These help you choose a first day, not forecast how the job will go.

Your first day

If the start date is fixed, keep it. A fixed date is not a bad omen.

If you can choose between two or three dates, check them in Find Good Times and drop any Chandrashtama days.

Prepare the practical things: your route, documents, a short introduction and a few questions for your manager. Arriving calm matters more than the minute.

Good to know

Contract terms and right-to-work checks are set by your employer and the law, so confirm them directly.
