Life events and good timing

When is a good time to sign an important contract?

Published 01-11-2026 · · How we answer

Short answer

Sign an important contract once you understand it and have had advice, ideally on a day outside your Chandrashtama and at a time outside Rahu Kalam. Mercury rules documents in Vedic astrology and is retrograde until 13 November 2026; tradition reads that as a cue to check every clause twice, never as a reason to miss a deadline.

How ChiChakra reads this

ChiChakra treats Mercury as the planet of writing, trade and agreements, so its retrograde spells (3 to 4 a year, about three weeks each) get extra attention. The next ones run about 11 February to 5 March and 12 June to 6 July 2027. Day-level timing comes from Rahu Kalam for your city.

Before you sign

Read the obligations, renewal and exit terms and the payment schedule, and confirm the final version matches what you agreed.

If you can choose the appointment, check two or three options in Find Good Times and pick one where you won't feel rushed.

During a retrograde, add a second read-through and confirm names, figures and dates. If the deadline falls inside one, sign on time.

Good to know

Legal questions belong with a solicitor or adviser; a good time cannot fix an unclear clause.
